FALL '08 WEEK 15 -last class!

This is our final meeting. It's been a good semester, mostly everyone has worked hard and learned a thing or two about photojournalism. Hopefully. I've enjoyed working with all of you.
I wish all of you the best in all future adventures!

TODAY:
(help yourself top coffee and doughnuts!)
1. Put finishing touches on your Final Project, finish by 11:15am.
2. seek my advice BEFORE your final edit.
3. see checklist below, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
4. create audio slideshow
5. Critique will begin at 11:15.

FINAL PROJECT CHECKLIST:
1. be sure you submitted to the DROP updated final proposal, if you changed topics.
Slug: franklin_finalproposal.doc
2. make sure ALLL photos are captioned properly.
3. sequence photos, take special care to put photos in order.
4. slug photos properly. Slug: lastname_final01.jpg, lastname_final02.jpg, etc.
5. Photoshop & size each image properly (less that 2 MB each).
6. submit 8-10 final photos to the DROP when you are done.
*OPTIONAL*
1. create audio slideshow in iPHOTO.
2. export: SLUG: lastname_final_slideshow
3. submit to the DROP

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Each project must consist of at least 8 different images, no more than 10.
2. Project should include at least:
(1) vertical photo
(1), detail
(1) overall-scene setter
3. At least (5) photos must contain people.
4. Each image must be captioned properly in File Info.
5. The first image in your series MUST have a brief summary of your project, in addition to the caption. 2-3 sentences, be brief and concise. Place in same field as caption.
6. Each image must be slugged properly
(lastname_final 01.jpg, lastname_final 02.jpg, etc....
7. Each image must be cropped, toned, sized, etc in Photoshop
8. Each image should be sized to 10 inches at longest side, 200dpi, no larger than 2MB each.
9. Save it at a lower compression if too big.
10. Sequence your images in the best story telling manner.


GRADES:
-YOU WILL BE GRADED ON WELL YOU MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS, AS WELL AS THE OVERALL IMPACT OF YOUR PHOTOS.
-PROJECT MUST REFLECT 4-5 WEEKS OF WORK.


GRADING:

ATTENDANCE& PARTICIPATION = 10 POINTS
-points will be subtracted if student does not participate in class by offering constructive comments and opinions.
****EXTRA CREDIT FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE! *****
-only two absences allowed, without permission from instructor.
-DETERMINATION: grade will be based on participation determined by instructor. (1-10)

WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS = 25 POINTS
(10 points for each assignment)
-there will 10 assignments, each worth 10 points
-each assignment will be graded on scale of 1-10 max
-DETERMINATION: total points X 25% = grade
(ex: 95pts X 25% = 24 total points)

EXAM = 25 POINTS
-exam will be graded on a scale of 1-100 max
-DETERMINATION: total points X 25% = grade
(ex: 90pts X 25% = 23 total points)
PAPER & PRESENTATION = 15 POINTS
-will be graded on scale of 1-15 max
-DETERMINATION: grade will be based on how well requirements are completed.
(1-15)

FINAL PROJECT = 25 POINTS
(25 points for how well photo essay is completed)
DETERMINATION: grade will be based on how well project is completed. (1-25)

All points compiled at conclusion of semester.
